Holidays, They Are Upon Us!

Whew! I guess I have to stop working on holiday stuff, because it's here!

I did sneak off one day to torch. Nothing like making holiday beads right AT the holiday time. But now I know what to think about next year, right?

Other art things going on here:

My full page Emerging Artist Award in Flow Magazine!!! Thanks to editor Jennifer Quaid, who encouraged me at the Gathering in August to apply; pats on the back to me for actually scribbling out something while packing for vacation to Hawaii (I haven't read the print version, it might be awful!). Thank you Glasscraft for sponsoring the award, and thanks, Jennifer and the Flow, for a great issue. It's an honor to be in the company of two of my favorite glass artists who also garnered the award, Tink Martin and Pipyr. This issue is also the Annual Women in Glass production, so check it out for a load of wonderful eye candy. Local Austin Firefly members with their work in the issue are Leslie Shkolnik and Vicki Munie.

Tile! Last year when I didn't have the fireplace surround done, I swore I would not go through another Christmas with paper tacked under the stockings to hide the wallboard. Well...this past Saturday, I woke up early and decided I had to do something about it, so I bought twenty bags of river pebbles and went to work. The hand-carved tiles were made by my local friend, Melodie Greider, at her Stick Horse Studios. Guess I shouldn't mention that I don't have it grouted yet...

Enough of the art. It's time to start cooking since I have fifteen for dinner tomorrow.

To everyone who has read my blog this year, and especially to those who have reached out to contact me through the ether: a big hug and thank you! I never expected that I would become addicted to writing my own blog, nor to reading those of close friends and people I've never met in person, who now feel like close friends.

Happy Holidays!
