Earrings #16-#19 -- Working in Series

There are certainly some things to be learned by trying to produce a number of similar pieces quickly. It's the old "working in series" topic over again, I think.

Here is a list of my newest insights brought on by a Month of Earrings:

  1. Bezel cups are a lifesaver. Why did I think that bag of 50 from Rio Grande would last me a lifetime?
  2. Why didn't I buy the cabochons in similarly huge lots?
  3. I adore my Little Torch. There has been a discussion ongoing on the Metal Clay Yahoo group about the pros and cons of this torch. I'm not sure why people think it's impossible to solder with, since I've had good luck with it. It must be a difference in technique. I'm thinking perhaps it's my experience with torches for glass that makes me understand and able to control that flame.
  4. Beaded wire linkages are my favorite. So fast and easy! I'm thinking I should figure out how to offer a class on this topic.
  5. Argentium sterling silver wire is a breakthrough! No worries about firescale. Fusible. Oven hardenable. Only slightly more expensive than regular sterling. What should I do with the old sterling hanging around?
  6. The right tools make all the difference. AdvantEdge polishing points and 3M bristle discs for polishing off excess patina. Wire wrap mandrels for forming matching earwires quickly.
